Since its launch, Torry lighthouse centre Manna Foodbank has been a strong force in tackling severe food insecurity. Our dedicated team has distributed over 500,000 food items through more than 40,000 food parcels — each providing a vital three-day supply for individuals and families in crisis.
As a charity, we know it isn’t right that anyone should be left hungry or living in extreme poverty. The cost-of-living crisis has made food for some of our community’s members almost unaffordable. The Manna is a name derived from the miracle recorded in the Bible where God provided food from heaven for the people. The Manna is a food bank that provides emergency food items (Perishable and non-Perishable) to all members of the communities who require food. Our trained volunteers always check that the food is in date, and everyone gets a share of what is available without prejudice.
These efforts have supported over 5,000 adults and 12,000 children facing extreme hardship.
